Are potatoes healthy?

Who hear is afraid of potatoes? ?

I don’t mean that the sheer thought of potatoes can put you in a panic but I have seen the look of panic when I have recommended to my clients that they should eat them.

This could be a very long post if I go into the psychology of food but what is for sure is that we have been programmed to fear eating ALL carbs. And no not all carbs are created equal.

Did you know that potatoes and some other white colored foods such as rice ?(who can believe I am actually recommending foods white in colour ?) when cooked and then cooled are high in something called RESISTANT STARCH. This type of starch is actually SO beneficial for our gut health, helping to feed our good gut bacteria and allowing for the regeneration of the gut lining.

The benefits of having a healthy digestive system are so profound with a few majour benefits of healthy tummy’s being that they help with digestive health (obviously), mental health and our immune system. As well as aiding with weight loss and maintenance. So there you have it, certain carbs will actually promote healthy weight management.

When it comes to carbs it is individual for each person but refined and processed food of any sort is always something to be avoided or minimized.
